Dear Delores,
I trialed the medibottle in my clinics over a one month period of time in August of 1997. The trial was set up as a new product trial for potential recommendation to the New Product's Committee.
The group of children I selected for this trial were under the age of 18 months. A total of ten children participated. They were given the medication chloral hydrate. The Medibottle was used to administer this bitter tasting medication and given along with 15-30cc's [but never more than 30cc's] of a clear liquid. The amount of clear liquid was enforced because the medication was being given to sedate the children.
All ten of the children took the full dose of medication using the Medibottle as instructed in the Medibottle brochure [with "little squirts"]. They not only took the full dose of medication but they took it willingly. If you have ever given chloral hydrate you know this is quite a feat! It should be noted that five of the ten children had received chloral hydrate in the past and required a restraining technique to administer the full dose of this medication. The parents of these five children, in particular, were very impressed with the Medibottle. They were able to see the difference in the child's response to receiving the medication. The parents were given the Medibottle for their personal use after the medication was administered.
I highly recommended this product to our New Product's Committee. It is still in the process of evaluation with this committee.
